Head coach Mike Macdonald announced that Darnold won't play Sunday against the Cardinals due to a quadriceps injury, NFL reporter Andrew Siciliano reports.
In addition to a quad issue that Darnold sustained late in Monday's loss to the Bears, Macdonald revealed that the quarterback suffered a rib injury early in that contest. The pair of health concerns may have played a part in Darnold's subpar performance, which included 188 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 17-for-34 passing and two carries for 20 yards. With Darnold out for the first time since Week 2, backup QB Drew Lock will draw the Week 9 start under center for the Seahawks.
Arnold signed a contract with the Seahawks on Saturday.
It was reported earlier this month that Arnold would be joining the Seahawks, and the move became official Saturday. Per Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network, Arnold will be placed on the commissioner's exempt list while he works through legal issues stemming from an incident in June, so it's unclear when he will be ready to see action with his new team.
Shaheed (knee) did not practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Shaheed missed Monday night's loss to the Bears, which allowed Tory Horton to log a season-high 43 offensive snaps, which he turned into a 3-26-0 receiving line on six targets. Horton would again be in line for WR3 duties if Shaheed needs to sit Sunday against Arizona.
Lock (elbow) is slated to start Sunday's game against the Cardinals, per NFL reporter Andrew Siciliano.
Siciliano adds that Lock has an elbow injury that the team will manage during the week, but he's nonetheless set to get the starting assignment Sunday with fellow signal caller Sam Darnold unavailable due to quad and rib issues. Beyond this weekend, it's possible that Lock's QB1 stint could continue given that Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that Darnold is viewed as week-to-week, according to coach Mike Macdonald.
Pili (back) is inactive for Monday night's game against the Bears, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
The nose tackle popped up on the injury report with a back issue Friday and missed the last two practice sessions of the week. Pili has only played 19 defensive snaps in four games this season.
Head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters Friday that Arroyo (shoulder) underwent surgery and will likely be out for the rest of the season, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Macdonald didn't outright rule Arroyo out for the entire 2026 campaign, leaving the possibility that the second-year tight end would be available if the Seahawks made a deep playoff run. Regardless, Arroyo will not be available for the rest of the regular season while recovering from a shoulder injury, leaving Eric Saubert and Nick Kallerup as the Seahawks' depth options at tight end behind AJ Barner.
The Seahawks placed Neal (hamstring) on injured reserve Saturday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Neal was already ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers due to a hamstring injury, which is severe enough for the rookie third-rounder to warrant a stint on injured reserve. As such, Neal will be forced to miss at least four games, so the earliest he can return is Week 9 against the Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 8. He's mostly operated on special teams this season, but his absence will also weaken the Seahawks' depth in the secondary.
The Seahawks placed Richman (leg) on injured reserve Tuesday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Richman suffered a serious right leg injury during Sunday's preseason loss to the Titans. The offensive lineman will now miss the entirety of the 2026 regular season unless he is waived with an injury settlement. The second-year player maintained his depth role on the offensive line throughout his rookie season and will have to fight for the same status in 2027.
The Seahawks placed Clark (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Clark fractured his ankle in Sunday's 19-16 preseason loss to the Titans and will need to miss multiple months. The safety's placement on IR means he will now miss the entirety of the 2026 regular season unless he is waived with an injury settlement. The rookie second-rounder will likely stick it out on injured reserve and look to make his NFL debut in 2027.
The Seahawks placed Bobo (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Bobo sustained a serious knee injury in Friday's joint practice with the Titans. The wide receiver's placement on injured reserve means he will be unable to participate for the Seahawks in the entirety of the 2026 season. With Bobo out of the picture, Tory Horton (undisclosed), Emmanuel Henderson, Montorie Foster and Cody White will have a close competition for starting roles during the remainder of the preseason. The Seahawks also signed wide receiver Julian Hicks in a corresponding move.
Charbonnet (knee) rushed six times for 23 yards and brought in three of four targets for six yards in the Seahawks' 34-17 loss to the Bears on Monday night.
Charbonnet took the first carry of the night for Seattle, gaining an encouraging five yards on his first tote since tearing his left ACL in a divisional-round win over the 49ers in January. He also subsequently rattled off a 13-yard gain in the third quarter, but he was limited on his other touches and ultimately had four fewer rush attempts than Jadarian Price. Charbonnet's snap share and touches should gradually increase, and a Week 9 home matchup against the Cardinals could serve as a good platform for his workload to see a nice bump.
Knight (hip) doesn't have an injury designation for Monday's game against the Bears, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Knight opened Week 8 prep with consecutive limited practices before logging a full session Saturday, and he's done enough to fade an injury tag against Chicago. The third-year linebacker has seen an uptick in defensive snaps over his last two outings, and he's logged 16 tackles (nine solo) in that span.
Murphy (back) does not have an injury designation for Monday's game against the Bears, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
A back issue limited Murphy's practice participation Friday, but his full session Saturday was enough for him to avoid an injury tag for Monday Night Football. The third-year defensive lineman has logged 24 tackles (12 solo), including 3.0 sacks, through seven regular-season games.
Surratt (calf) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Gregg Bell of Sports Radio 93.3 KJR Seattle reports.
Surratt has missed the Seahawks' last four games while nursing a calf injury, but his ability to practice in full Friday indicates that he'll return for Monday's game against the Bears. The sixth-year pro mostly played on special teams prior to his injury.
Thomas (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Gregg Bell of Sports Radio 93.3 KJR Seattle reports.
Thomas missed Seattle's past two games and opened this week with a limited practice session. However, his ability to return to full participation Friday suggests the linebacker should be able to return to game action Monday versus Chicago. Thomas has started each of the five games in which he's appeared this season and has 20 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble.
Emmanwori registered four tackles (two solo) Sunday in a 20-3 Week 7 win over the Chiefs.
Emmanwori was dealing with a hip injury heading into the weekend, but he was able to suit up and logged every one of Seattle's defensive snaps. Though he logged a modest four stops, Emmanwori was part of a dominant defensive effort by Seattle. Overall, Emmanwori has registered 27 tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and one defensed pass through six contests on the campaign.
