Ossai (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
It was Ossai's first practice since Week 5 due to a sprained ankle. The offseason pickup has appeared in three games with the Jets this season, recording nine tackles (five solo) on 107 defensive snaps. Ossai will be looking to provide some more juice to the New York pass rush once cleared to return.
Taylor was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a back injury.
Since sitting out Weeks 3 and 4 due to a thumb injury, Taylor has played north of 50 percent of the snaps on offense in each of the Jets' last four games, cobbling together a 15-138-2 receiving line on 20 targets over that stretch. Provided the back issue doesn't prevent him from practicing Thursday and Friday, Taylor should be able to handle his usual role this Sunday in Kansas City.
Bailey (groin) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Bailey was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, which is a step up from last week's three DNPs. The 23-year-old missed Week 8 with a groin injury suffered in Week 7 against Miami. Should the rookie continue to progress well throughout the week, he could have a shot at returning for Week 9.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that Hall (quadriceps) will be a limited practice participant Wednesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Hall, who hasn't played since Sept. 27, was also limited at practice last week, but Glenn said that the running back is "trending in the right direction" as Sunday's game against the Chiefs approaches, per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. As for how the workload might be split between Hall and Braelon Allen should Hall return this weekend, Glenn declined to go in specifics beyond noting that "both will play" in such a scenario, according to Cimini.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that Wilson is in the NFL's concussion protocol and is considered day-to-day, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Per Eric Allen of the Jets' official site, Wilson experienced symptoms of a concussion when he was evaluated Monday after taking a hard hit near the end of Sunday's 38-33 loss to the Jets. As a result, Wilson won't practice Wednesday, and his status for Sunday's road game against the Chiefs will need to be tracked closely in the coming days. If Wilson ends up being sidelined this weekend, added targets could be available for wideouts Omar Cooper, Adonai Mitchell and Isaiah Williams and tight ends Mason Taylor and Kenyon Sadiq.
Payne (knee) was designated to return from injured reserve by the Jets on Wednesday, Amana Vogt of the team's official website reports.
Payne has been sidelined since early August while recovering from a bone bruise, and he was able to return to practice Wednesday, logging a full practice. The Jets opened the safety's 21-day practice window, and it may not be long before the rookie is able to make his NFL regular-season debut.
The Jets placed Mitchell (concussion) on their injured reserve list Tuesday, Amanda Vogt of the team's official site reports.
In a corresponding transaction, the Jets signed tackle Blake Freeland to their active roster. Mitchell, who has not made a start on the offensive line yet this season, will now have to miss at least the next four games.
The Jets placed Sweat (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Sweat was diagnosed with a knee injury during the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Dolphins. The initial diagnosis was week-to-week, and the Jets medical staff has determined that a stint on IR is warranted for the third-year defensive lineman, although he's expected to return this season. Sweat will be required to miss at least four games, so the earliest he can play is Week 12 against the Dolphins on Sunday, Nov. 29, although he could be held out until after the Jets' Week 13 bye. Darrell Jackson and Harrison Phillips will both step into more prominent roles on the defensive line in Sweat's absence.
The Jets placed Mauigoa (quadriceps) on injured reserve Saturday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Mauigoa suited up for the Jets' Week 6 loss to the Patriots before being ruled out for Week 7 against the Browns. The linebacker has missed three regular-season games so far in 2026 and will need to miss at least four more while on IR.
McGregor (pectoral) was placed on the Jets' injured reserve list Wednesday, Eric Allen of the team's official site reports.
McGregor will miss the rest of the 2026 season due to a pectoral injury he sustained during the Jets' Week 4 loss to the Bears. His move to IR opens up a spot on the 53-man roster, which the Jets filled with Nate Lynn, who signed with the team's practice squad following the conclusion of training camp in late August.
Smith (knee) underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season, Antwan V. Staley of the New York Daily News reports.
Smith suffered a knee injury during the 20-17 overtime loss to Green Bay in Week 2. He will finish the 2026 campaign without a catch (one target), adding four carries for 13 yards. With Smith, Omar Cooper (ankle) and Tim Patrick (groin) out of the equation, Isaiah Williams could be in line for more opportunities behind Adonai Mitchell and Garrett Wilson. The Jets also signed Malik McClain off the practice squad Tuesday, which will help fill some of the void left by the injuries within the receiving corps.
Onyemata (groin) underwent core-muscle surgery Wednesday, Antwan V. Staley of the New York Daily News reports.
Onyemata was injured during the 20-17 overtime loss to Green Bay in Week 2. He was placed on the injured reserve list Tuesday, and while that means he will miss at least four games, he is anticipated to be out longer, though head coach Aaron Glenn expects him back before the end of the season. While Onyemata is out of commission, Darrell Jackson, Jowon Briggs, T'Vondre Sweat and Harrison Phillips will presumably see more snaps in each game moving ahead.
The Jets moved Baron (knee) to the reserve/PUP list Sunday, Eric Allen and Amanda Vogt of the team's official site report.
Baron opened training camp on the active/PUP list due to a knee injury he sustained last December. He's not quite ready to participate in practice, and the move to reserve/PUP means he'll be required to miss at least the first four games of the regular season. The second-year pro logged nine tackles (five solo) across six regular-season games last year before his knee injury.
Trayanum (neck) was placed on injured reserve by the Jets on Sunday, Eric Allen & Amanda Vogt of the team's official website report.
Trayanum suffered a neck injury in the team's preseason finale against the Giants on Friday. The running back is now set to miss the entire 2026 campaign while on IR with New York, and he'd have to reach an injury settlement with the team to have a chance to play this season.
The Jets placed Cooper (shoulder) on injured reserve Sunday with a designation to return, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
Cooper suffered a shoulder injury during Friday's preseason finale against the Giants. The rookie sixth-rounder is set to be a primary piece of depth for the Jets' offensive line throughout 2026. Cooper will be required to miss at least the first four weeks of the regular season until he is eligible to return to the Jets' active roster.
Parham (knee) is active for Sunday's game against Las Vegas.
Parham will be back in action for the first time since Week 3, when he sustained a knee injury in a loss to the Lions. Though he was listed as questionable heading into Sunday, Parham was cleared to play after logging a pair of limited practices and a full session during the week. He should step back in as the Jets' starting left guard, sending Jordan Meredith back to the bench.
Davis finished Sunday's Week 7 loss to Miami with three tackles (two solo) and one defensed pass.
Davis' tackle tally was his lowest of the campaign, but he did record his first effort of multiple defensed passes. The durable linebacker has played every defensive snap for the Jets so far this season. With 46 stops through seven games, Davis is on pace for a 10th consecutive 100-tackle campaign.
Sherwood totaled eight tackles (four solo) and two defensed passes Sunday in a loss to Miami.
Of Sherwood's eight stops, two went for a loss. He also notched multiple defensed passes for the first time this season. Sherwood has been quite disruptive so far in 2026, tallying 54 tackles, four defensed passes, two forced fumbles and a recovered fumble through seven games.
Belton registered nine tackles (six solo) in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.
Belton continues to put together a productive season, as he's posted seven or more stops in each of his past five games. The former New York Giant has yet to miss a defensive snap this season in his first campaign as a Jet. After posting a career-high 120 stops across 17 regular-season contests last year, Belton is on pace to challenge that mark with 56 tackles (including 1.0 sacks) through seven games this year. He's also tallied three defensed passes.
Fitzpatrick posted 10 tackles (six solo) Sunday in a loss to Miami.
Fitzpatrick's 10 stops led New York and marked his second double-digit tackle effort of the campaign. After missing Weeks 2 and 3 due to a groin injury, Fitzpatrick has logged every Jets defensive snap in four straight games as a stalwart of the team's secondary. The veteran safety has tallied 36 tackles and two defensed passes, including one interception, through five games during his first season with New York.
